Enhancing rural communities, land and water.
Farmer-led catchment groups across the Whanganui region are working together to protect and restore our waterways - building a strong community committed to the land, the river and the future.

Whanganui Region Catchment Collective was established in 2022 as a farmer led initiative to work in and alongside local communities. WRCC strives to promote on-farm good practice and sustainable land management principles that will improve local water quality and biodiversity, bringing communities together to help achieve our goals.

Our Catchments

The catchment area including the coastal streams west of Whanganui covers approximately 753,852 hectares with 12,957 kilometres of waterways. There are approximately 1338 farms (over 10ha) in the catchment
