Okoia Catchment

The Okoia Catchment is a rural area and catchment located approximately 5 km east of Whanganui. It's a farming community the area is predominantly used for sheep and beef pastoral farming. Recently some farms have been divided into lifestyle blocks indicating a shift in land use

The Okoia Catchment is home to Gordon Park Scenic Reserve This flat and well-formed track passes through native podocarp-hardwood forest

This small reserve is a precious sample of a lowland forest type which was once common in the area. The reserve features a flat and well formed track and is home to an interesting array of birds.
