The Tauraroa Catchment Group was established in 2023. The group is based around the Tauraroa Steam and includes sheep and beef farmers, lifestyle blocks and a 72ha regenerative farm Piwakawaka Farm.

This group has set themselves the lofty goal of completely fencing this stream and planting the riparian margin. This goal is well underway with some driven land owners.

Piwakawaka farms has its own nursery which sells native trees to the public.
